Hi,

Now I have dowloaded Linux-2.4.17 and corresponding
patch for packet writing from
http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/
and compiled. (included udf support)
After that downloded udftool udftools-1.0.0b2.tar.gz
and compiled.
Loaded the following modules
usb-uhci.o,usb-storage.o,sg.o,cdrom.o,sr_mod.o,udf.o,
pktcdvd.o

Then Used 'cdrwtool -d /dev/scd0 -q'
to setup the cd-rw media. (HP CDRW 650 MB media on
HP8200a)
While formating the cd-rw media usb timeout message
are
displayed and after a while a kernel panic occurs,
something like  'Aiee, cannot handle interrupt..
due to a null pointer dereferencing is occuring in
usb.c code.
Would be of great help if someone who has successfully
tried packet writing gives stepwise input.
