Hello:
I tried the pkt-ac7 patch on both 2.4.10-ac7
and on 2.4.9-ac18.
I can't make cdrwtool to work (and this is my
problem with -ac kernels for a long time)
Here are the messages:
2.4.10-ac7:
# cdrwtool -d /dev/scd0 -t 4 -q
using device /dev/scd0
setting speed to 4
3098KB internal buffer
setting write speed to 4
Settings for /dev/scd0:
Fixed packets, size 32
mode-2 disc
(usual warnings here)
Initiating quick disc blank
sr0: CDROM (ioctl) reports ILLEGAL REQUEST
wait_cmd: Operation not supported
Command failed: a1 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - sense 05.20.00
blank disc: Illegal seek
/var/log/messages also contains:
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
2.4.9-ac18:
Same as above. There is an additional information
report from cdrwtool (before the formatting starts)
like:
Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
System info:
Distribution is a somewhat "Cookerized" Mandrake 8.0
(glibc 2.2.4, new packages of gcc 2.96, binutils,
libtool, etc. taken from mdk-cooker)
CD/RW is an ide Yamaha 8424E / firmware 1.0j .
This is connected as master to the second channel
of a HPT 366 PCI card. ide-scsi emulation is used.
UDF write-support is enabled, pktcdvd write-caching
disabled.
The CD/RW works fine on the "other OS"
