Hi all, Partial success report here. I formatted and wrote about 60MB to a CD (quite slow -- lots of: Jun 14 20:28:18 muttley kernel: Device 0b:00 not ready: cmd=0, sector=101320, nr_sectors=32 ) After syncing, unmounting and remounting the CD was unreadable. It's possibly a dodgy CD-RW, though. Anyhow, I reformatted and left it to copy again over night but came back to a hung machine and unreadable CD-RW. I'm running kernel 2.4.5, patched for low-latency (may be a problem?), with packet writing patch 0.0.2l-as. Hardware dual PIII, AIC7xxx, Yamaha 4416 SCSI. I'll go and find some new CD-RWs, but apart from the final hurdle it's looking good here! More testing later...
