That is no doubt the least likely solution I have ever heard. An application that is dependent on the type of syslog daemon you run? nah.
I don't remember exactly if it was denyhosts or fail2ban, but one of them didn't (still doesn't?) work with systemD logs, it required one of the "old- school" ones. Irritating.
