Did you bother to read the link?
Perhaps the software has changed? I'm looking to share files between a linux host and win7 guest. The last time I read the docs it stated that that was not (yet) supported.
Oh, sorry. Yes, for Windows the simplest is probably to use
qemu -net user,smb=host
and then access \\10.0.2.4\host in guest.
Ken, Andrei, Kicking the tires between the two, I have ended up with virtualbox for the win7 guest. Yes the built-in samba server provides a local directory under KVM, but I find the virtualbox guest additions far easier and more reliable on the mouse integration, and with the WDDM 3D graphic library, I even have Aeroglass working. (albeit not as stable as with the default 2D Display driver) The new vbox 5.1.16 is out today and it seemed to help with the stability of the WDDM module a bit, but I still had hiccups with the Aero decorations enabled -- I posted to the virtualbox list and will pass along anything worth noting.
