One of the nice things about Thunderbird is the ability to archive mail locally. I have used it in the past when it worked well. Not any more!
I am using TB 45.6 in Leap 42.2 with KDE Frameworks. I have two accounts, one IMAP and one gmail. I have set the IMAP account to archive messages in the "Archives" folder in Local Folders, but it consistently ignores this setting and moves them into "Archives" on the IMAP server.
The Mozilla help forum has been unhelpful, and googling hasn't provided a solution either.
Does anyone on the list use this feature of Thunderbird? Have you come across this problem?
Yes I use this .... in 13.2, TB 45.6.0 on KDE4 With no problems.

Its reports like this that make me reluctant to move to LEAP.
So, it works for you in 13.2, and not for me in Leap 42.2. I'm not convinced that's enough evidence to prove a cause and effect relationship, and the problem is not big enough for me to revert to 13.2 just to test the hypothesis.
