I've yet to try XFS (or BTRFS) for anything. EXT2/3/4 WFM.
I use XFS a lot, but it is the first time I attempt to boot from it. Perhaps I tried several (many?) years ago. There was a problem long time solved. Usually I would have used a separate small boot partition with ext2, but this time I don't have space for it. So I wanted to try it.
I don't remember what that new EXT4 filesystem option is, so I format in advance of installation with something older than 42.1. Formatting in advance I've done already for many years for other reasons.
I know, but I never do. I prefer to format with the same release as the installed system. The exception is when the install media will not boot and requires a swap in advance.
Is the Grub you're booting from actually 13.1's and not a relic from an older release? BTDT
Indeed 13.1's Grub. It is the second big bug/problem I find with 42.2, in the same machine. The first one: you can not install using Labels, the installer crashes. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
