Presume you mean wobbly windows and various other effects? Its in Desktop settings, Desktop effects, where you have to turn them on, and have a composting type selected in advance tab, specific effects checked in the effects tab and Enabled and Animation speed set on the General tab. (instant usually suppresses all animation)
Of course all this can go to hell the minute you get updates for your Video card.
Thank you John. I have searched the desktop effects to turn them on and off, but have not seen the advanced part where the compositing is actually turned on and off. Following your hint, in that tab I found a message that due to primary problems the effects were turned off. I turned them on again - and here they are :-) Thanks and have a nice day!
