It never failed and was very dependable. There was no chance whatsoever that it would cause any kind of heat problems.
Count your blessings. My wife contributed two worthless laptop shells to our 'surplus equipment' collection in three years. I suspect it was due to this very type of behavior. She had no clue what to look for.
