Remember that, unless you are using Tumbleweed, you don't get packages upgrades of anything, with a few exceptions like Mozilla. If you want to update something, you either change openSUSE version, or you add a repository that contains whatever you want.
Normally if you want to upgrade a particular installed package that's available in an optional repo, you can goto https://software.opensuse.org/search and have it installed via 1-click. Right now that page is broken, but the break has been reported.
