But in mixed mode, it's no different then other file systems. And with compression enabled, it's quite a bit more space efficient than other file systems.
Does the OP want to risk his trial period tripping over the default BTRFS snapshot configuration in his limited space, or actually using openSUSE to do the things he wants to do?
Recommending the OP not use Btrfs as an indirect way to avoid the negative consequences of snapper's sub optimal default behavior is completely reasonable. But characterizing this as Btrfs itself being demanding, and Btrfs itself having a default snapshotting configuration isn't accurate.
While what you say is true, it's likely to matter not to a first time openSUSE user unless already familiar with BTRFS and Snapper. If Snapper get's him, highly likely he will see it as openSUSE's fault, neither Snapper's nor BTRFS's.
That's probably true, and completely appropriate as well. For a USB stick installation, the suboptimal default configuration of snapper arguably becomes a misconfiguration. So hopefully someone's filed a bug/feature design change request under Factory. -- Chris Murphy -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
