Install package optipng and process the files with the -fix parameter.
or .. run pngfix on each file .. tool is found in package libpng16-tools.
useless first - there is now a whole png libary conflict aht was was completely not necessary and is confusing. I ran opting -fix and it didn't work on the few files I tried it on (on the server). On the laptop it works. Why? You really just want to throw your hands in the air and screem, I don't care why at this point. I ran it with different options -fix -o7 that works everwhere secondly - I have nearly 200,000 png images and it is SLOW. I ran it and 4 days later it was STILL running when I had to reboot my computer, something I've now done more times in the last 3 weeks than in a decade - thank you systemd - and so I guess I need to run it again . Maybe it will take a MONTH or TOW to fix the BUG in the latest PNG libaries. This stuf is UNUSUABLE in its current state. Ruben
