Today I've been trying to install 13.1+updates on a system that needs a PAE kernel. It's failed repeatedly because unpacking the initramfs has caused an NMI, leading to the initramfs not being unpacked. (judging by the kernel output). I've just now installed again, but with the -default kernel, and that worked. Does this situation sound familiar to anyone?
I strongly suggest you to use a 64 bit distribution instead..
Why? This box doesn't have 64bit processors.
Hrmmm.. I see..this box seems to be Intel "Netburst" based ..the earlier models did not support long mode..
Yup, they CPUs are Xeon MPs, no long mode, so I'm stuck with 32bit and PAE. I'm pretty certain I had 12.[12] running on this box, so I might try a back-level kernel. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (19.0°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
