Sun/hOracle started replacing the init system back in Solaris 10.
It was Sun, not Oracle.
However at the time, it's been a few years since I've been on a Solaris system, init(1m) wasn't displaced but I don't know if that's still the case.
init with /etc/inittab still exists, but the only thing that it really does is starting svc.startd which is then responsible for everything else. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
