For whatever reason, your 12.3 system is picking up or triggering read errors where the other systems are not. The first thing I'd do is make a backup. The next thing I'd do is boot into rescue mode using a 12.3 and then a 12.2 or even an 11.4 install dvd/cd to see if the trouble continues. If it does, try swapping out the USB cable. Maybe the USB port on this particular box under 12.3 is over-driving the cable (degraded or poor quality cable.) Maybe, as Malcom correctly infers, there isn't enough power getting to the drive because this particular system has too many USB devices plugged in at the same time or just not enough power built-in (degraded or poor quality controller.) hth & regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
