Hi
I would like to sync all my personal data across my computers. How do I do this? What apps are available? Would appreciate some advice on a "simple" solution.
I am using KDE 4.9.5 and Kmail2 on openSUSE 12.2.
Thanks in advance. Eddie
What do you mean by "all my personal data" and what types of computers?
If it is mail then use an imap server. Calendar entries then imap may be all you need but it may not and if it is files use one computer as a central file store with either network shares or repliction with something like rsync.
However the real answer needs to take into account the devices you have, where they are, how often you want them in sync, the types of devices you may want in the future, the data you want to sync.
Okay perhaps kmail is not an issue. How about the kaddressbook?

Eddie If you are using kmail then you can use the groupware abilities and put all of your contacts in the "Contacts" folder in your imap account. Alternatively set up caldav and hold all your contacts and calendar entries there. kmail and other systems can use caldav. As an alternative you could use google mail/calendar services but you are giving all your info to big brother if you are paranoid. Another solution would be to set up a full groupware solution.
