Nevertheless for some reason I cannot print a test page (or any other thing). I click the button to print the test, ask for the 1 page test, but nothing happens."
So there is your answer. Best guess is the printer is NOT supported.
I don't understand why you guys are so eager to give up, give up so easily. If this were me, I'd be testing the printer to make sure that it was accessible. I had a Brother which had parallel, usb and network ports. I tested it using all three, not because I had problems, but "just in case" at some future time I might need to change configuration. Testing on a parallel port or use is easy: cat a postscript file :-) With the network you need to determine the address and then use netcat. So Yast can't print a test page. Big deal; yast is the be all and end all. Work backwards from the printer. Check each step. Heck, vendors/suppliers have been known to ship defective or obsolete product. Get 'under the hood' and find out why the back end isn't sending the formatted file down the line. And yes, I've done this in the past and had to edit incorrect PPD files. You're giving up too easily. -- "Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been.
