I am unsure if with the above I am already a lp registred user or not. I tried to look for information on this, but my internet connection now is unstable.
I just tried to print a test page from CUPS (localhost:631). And I received the error message : "Unable to open print file: No such file or directory".
THis may or may not be relevant.... A while back, I got that message as a resu;lt of an access control issue. It turned out that /dev/lp0 was owned by root.root and inacessible to the cups program which was running with uid=lp Of course how that ends up will depends on the version you are running. YMMV, but sometimes access control problems aren't obvious from the error messages. The access _should_ be set from /etc/permissions (whichlever level you are using).
