I recently bought a USB headset to use with my notebook computer. However, even though it is configured properly and tests OK, I cannot get any app to send sound to it. It is configured as "Index 0", in Yast Sound, to make it the default audio device, but I cannot get any app to use it. Any ideas?
Is pulseaudio enabled and running correctly ? does the system has a different sound output other than the USB headset that is working ?
Pulseaudio is enabled, but what else is there to check? Audio plays normally through the built in speakers. As I mentioned, if I try the test in the sound configuration, I can hear it correctly through the headset.
Install pavucontrol. Launch pavucontrol. Start your audio event (eg test call on Skype). Use pavucontrol to set the output for that application to use your headset. That should clear it up and your headset will work as expected.
