in my syslog. Memory problems? (This is a new machine so that would suck).
Try to run a memtest on it. But don't be surprised if it finds nothing at all wrong. You can also re-seat the memory dimms. This sometimes is the problem. I've had this problem with a machine that had problematic dimm sockets.
I've also had this problem with a different machine and it simply went away when a newer version of Opensuse was installed.
In short, contrary to the first line, it is not always a hardware error. Sometimes it is a timer error and switching to a different timer method will help.
btw, leave memtest running for a long time, not just a couple of runs for several minutes, but at least a couple of hours (over night) or a complete day / weekend I presume we do not have to mention dust and worst of all: ESD...
