Yes, like booting from software raid or booting from lvm, both still requiring a separate boot partition.
So the implication if you can't install grub->XFS is you can't install an XFS-only based system.
So can't also install a lvm only system or a sw RAID one. So what?
Second...as far as fault -- it was SuSE's fault because they chose to use grub over LILO in that release, which did not have the problem.
