One thing I've noticed is that KDE4 simply doesn't work as well as KDE3,Have you tweaked a setting somewhere? i haven't encountered this
even ignoring the differences in features. For example, often when I click
on something to open it, I have to hunt to see where it is, rather than it
opening on top of everything else. I also find that when something opens,
it often does not have focus for the keyboard, so that if, for example, I
press Alt-F2 to run something, I find that even though the box opens, I wind
up typing into another app.
In this aspect alone, KDE4 has a long way to go to catch up to KDE3, even
before considering the things that are no longer possible in KDE4.
issue you present as an example of a problem with KDE4 at all.. and I
just tested it following your example and it behaves as you are
expecting it to not how you are describing it (ie I open an app using
Alt+F2 and focus is immediately shifted to the new app once it's
open).
