[opensuse] OwnCloud, do I need to purchase a domain?

I wanted to set up OwnCloud for a client since it would fulfill his
needs. He has a dedicated desktop system (running 11.4 that I set up)
that sees only light use, and should be able to host OwnCloud. I am not
terribly familiar with web technologies, and wonder if I would have to
link it to an external domain somehow since it doesn't have a static IP.
