If you truly want to clone the whole drive -- the partition table, boot sectors, everything, I'd suggest dd. A quick Google search revealed this page http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/2-methods-to-clone-your-linux-hard-drive/ which probably does a better job of describing it's use than I could in an email.
There are other options, too, if you, say, just want to backup your root filesystem, for example. In that case, perhaps rsync would be a good option. I tried to print the output of each of these links, and in both cases (two different printers) came up with garbage. Print on top of other print, great big black "scribbling" across 5 or 6 lines of type, etc. So does anyone know how to avoid this? I usually don't have this problem, altho I've seen it before. It must be site-specific.
