I am no sure that there is such a diagnostic program, Duaine, at least something available to you and me but possibly used at a techie workshop. But I am not sure that you would need such a program anyway. Yo say that you have had to do a hard reboot by hitting the Big Red button. I therefore suggest that you do a manual fsck on your system (run e2fsck). It is possible that the file system is corrupted which is why the system dies. This would be the first step which I would try although the following is also a very likely suspect to your problem. How old is your psu? Do you have a spare psu to hook up? I had a similar problem early last year, and a friend of mine (living just outside of NY) just put together a new system with 6-core cpu, 16GB of RAM, new this new that - and the thing started to play up on him within a few weeks. I suggested that his psu is faulty and that one of the 12-volt circuits had gone belly up; nevertheless, he sent the new mobo to the manufacturer for repair/replacement and after he got it back the same was still happening. In the end, it was his brand new 750W psu which was the cause of all his woes. So, I suggest that this is where you start. BC -- A three-year-old boy was examining his testicles while taking a bath.
