Hi,

is it possible to disable tracker without deinstalling gnome? I use KDE
but would like to keep the gnome installation.

zypper rm gives me:

barney:~ # zypper rm tracker
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...

The following packages are going to be REMOVED:
gnome-control-center gnome-control-center-branding-openSUSE

gnome-panel-applet-tracker gnome-session gnome-session-default-session
gnome-session-fallback-session gnome-shell

gnome-shell-browser-plugin libtracker-extract-0_12-0
libtracker-miner-0_12-0

libtracker-sparql-0_12-0 nautilus nautilus-extension-tracker-tags
patterns-openSUSE-devel_gnome

patterns-openSUSE-gnome_basis tracker tracker-devel tracker-gui

tracker-miner-files tracker-miner-firefox tracker-miner-thunderbird

This means that gnome-shell depends on tracker.

Christoph

Just remove tracker completely from your system. I couldn't stand it.

IIRC, I just did:

rpm -e libtracker-miner-0_10-0 libtracker-client-0_10-0
gnome-panel-applet-tracker tracker tracker-miner-files
libtracker-extract-0_10-0 tracker-gui libtracker-sparql-0_10-0
nautilus-extension-tracker-tags tracker-miner-evolution totem-plugins

and gnome still runs fine...

13:58 alchemy:~/scr/dev> rpm -qa | grep tracker
14:05 alchemy:~/scr/dev>

+1

Tracker went the way of beagle on my system...shot... ;-)
