I don't see any dangling polkit agents.
Is there anything polkit related in /var/log/messages? I see a small
flurry of messages there about the time I login, but then it is pretty
quiet.

Hi Folks,
I just noticed lots of processes of the following form on
a 12.1 box that's been up about 24-hours:
23158 ? S 0:00 /usr/lib/polkit-1/polkit-agent-helper-1 root cookie40
There are 93 of them with varying cookie numbers.
Is this normal polkit behavior, or is something not cleaning
up after itself?
