Have you tried changing the ID after the system is up & running? All you have to do is go into Yast > Security and Users to change the uid. You can do that on the Details tab.
Thanks. No, since once (very long time ago) I read somewhere that it is not a good idea to change the UID of an existing user in linux/unix. But it might have changed since then.
