Thanks for the response, but I am not the one having a problem :-) . I use Thunderbird and have never written any posts using the browser (Firefox) :-) .
BC Oops - sorry - wasn't paying attention to where I was in the threading. Should have/meant for the OP.

I don't know what your system is like (CPU, RAM, whatever) but here are a couple of thoughts: do you have Nepopuke running? and which version of Firefox are you running? The reason about asking the last question is that FF versions earlier than #7 are 'memory hogs'. And re Nepopuke, it takes up memory when it trying to scan your system for files to add to its db. I had hassles with cursor lag before I went to FF #8/#9 - and I do not have/never had Nepopuke active; the cursor lag seemed to occur when I was either getting mail (Thunderbird) or when FF was refreshing a web page. But my system is a 32-bit system with 1.5GB of RAM. Nevertheless, I have never had hassles until recently. (Define "recently" et alia, you ask. I cannot. I am using the kernel which came with 11.4 and this kernel has not been upgraded even though the kernel is now at version 3.x - and I am not going thru the crap of using some mumbo-jumob repository to upgrade same. If such an important application as the kernel cannot be upgraded automatically by the repositories used in 11.4 then that is a damn shame - not to mention a disgrace. The kernel was 'hacked' a few days ago - see http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2105947/hackers-break-linux-kernel-home?WT.rss_f=&WT.rss_a=Hackers+break+into+Linux+kernel+home - but where is the patch to close this?) But to be brutally honest, I don't know what was causing my "lags" as even now I get the occasional message telling me that the kernel had an "'oops, kernel, panic attack'" - and then, in most cases followed by the whole system freezing -- as well as the system randomly freezing with no "woopsy" messages: everything just freezes. This has been going on for quite a while since I installed 11.4 so I am used to it and just simply hit the RESET button and carry on..... A KDE game I am playing suddenly comes up with an "Ooopsy! This is embarrassing.... Would you like to report this so that we can fix it?". I answer, "Yes"; I get to the bit which asks if I can provide what I was doing when the "Ooopsy" occurred and I answer "Yes"......and the system locks up solid. NOTE: I am not complaining, folks.....just stating what I have experienced. I guess once you have gotten used to the BSoD in Windows then after a while similar behaviour elsewhere simply becomes expectable and therefore runs like water off a duck's back. And if you are wondering.....yes, I am having a 'bad hair day' :-D . BC -- Bob Hope's wife: "Where would like to be buried when you die?"
