quad-core and 8Gb of RAM - yeah, that'll do.
In the office I have a few five year old Thinkpads, 1.5GHz Celerons,
512M RAM. These are for people taking them along to do a presentation
or demo on site. They've been running openSUSE 10.3, but I thought I'd
try out 11.4 - even with desktop effects turned off, it's only
borderline useable. I'll have to see what happens if I were to revert
to KDE3.

The hardware is nearly five years old, but has plenty of grunt to run
rotating desktop cubes, etc. Details in my sig.
