I verified that my security settings, port settings, and everything are exactly as I have them on thunderbird, where I am also using this account, with IMAP settings, and everything works fine using thunderbird.
Someone please help me to know how to troubleshoot! George, I have had a similar problem with kmail using pop3. Although the settings appear normal, the only thing that has helped is to go into the settings and at each dialog window in send and receive I would delete forward and backward all that's in that window then reinter the same info. Then miraculously it worked again.
I surmise that there is some invisible character that has gotten into one of the entry windows, but have no way to prove it. I haven't been able to identify any particular event that creates the problem.
When I run Thunderbird I never have that problem. Before I get bit by the Kmail2 gremlins, I'm going back to Tbird.

Wow, well, I tried that, and nothing doing. I also just now set it up to test my yahoo email, which I also have as IMAP working in thunderbird, and it is the same thing. no connection by IMAP in Kmail to download folders and emails, but no error message or anything. It just sits there with a message in the corner and never connects. Do you think there is a bug in this latest Kmail 4.4.1 in that it won't work with IMAP? I have tried it on 2 different computers, and neither of them will connect by IMAP.
