Along those lines, what kind of notice do you get as a maintainer to alert you to upstream changes that will cause incompatibility with current add-ons? It just seems every new release breaks a majority of add-ons and it looks like Mozilla could do a better job telegraphing what the incompatibilities will be to the add-on devs to minimize this compatibility problem.
Just curious really...
Boy I have to agree with that. Thunderbird walks away from its add-ons faster than anyone. You would think that the popular ones would be upgraded in lock step. Yet it almost ends up being a month or so with only part of your add-ons working with each new release.
If you look in Help>Troubleshooting Information>Support Web Site you will eventually discover an extension called Add-on Compatibility Reporter. It's available for both Firefox and Thunderbird. I was upgraded to FF #9 yesterday and lost a couple more of my extensions to those I lost when I installed FF #8. However, after installing ACR I now have them all available and activated - including my preferred theme (Nautipolis). BC -- "Oh what a tangled web we weave When first we practice to deceive."
