Oh, it's a few weeks old Dell system with Intel Core i7 CPU. Well,
several of them. But definitively no vintage system.
It stops after the "Please stand by while rebooting the system..."
message, when usually the BIOS is triggered to reboot. Probably I
should check if there is a newer BIOS version available, but the
situation wasn't quite annoying enough, up to now. ;-)

It might also be a different issue: I have one workstation (an Dell
Optiplex 990) where reboot doesn't work at all. Neither remote nor
on console. Linux terminates all process, unmounts all disks, and
then nothing happens. Bloody annoying. :-(
That use to be pretty standard for a certain vintage of machines with dual
processors (not dual cores, but separate CPU chips).
