Johannes,
On my system, for details see my signature ;) I get no dot printers after
lpinfo -m | grep -i dot.
After reading through the information material you supplied, I finally found
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Epson/Epson-LX-300plus.
Thanks Ken Schneider, I was just there :) .

Hello,

After some problems with my printers I want to connect my old and trusted
9 dot printer. It is an Epson LX-300. I could always find a ppd or
other driver for this printer in former Suse versions in Cups or in the
Yast printer setup but right now dot printers are nowhere to be found.
Where to look? Do they hide under a nice modern name?
There are not at all "printers in Cups".
It is the printer driver RPM packages that provide the stuff which
makes printer model names show up in whatever printer setup tools.
I cannot know which printer driver RPM packages you have installed
on your particular system.
On my system (I won't tell you which exact system I have ;-)
"lpinfo -m | grep -i dot" shows me several "Epson Dot Matrix".
I assume it is at least openSUSE ;)
