You are technically correct, but "lizards" has been used to describe the openSUSE community before, see for example lizards.opensuse.org.
Also somewhat counter-intuitively "Geeko" is the official name for the openSUSE chameleon mascot. So associations with geckos are not _completely_ wrong.
