Gmail recently changed the header of the page. To logout, click on your email address (top right of the screen) and a small menu will pop up. The logout button is in there.
Dotan, you saved my day. I had already reduced gmail to the simple HTML standard because I found the logout button there in the expected place. Have no Addblocker as far as I can see, so also no red extra dot.
