I have xterm-269-18.4.x86_64 and <alt><enter> shifts to full-screen. 
Previous, 268-1.2.1, didn't shift to full-screen but did capture
<alt><enter>.  And, the changelog indicates the shift to full-screen is a
*feature*  :^(.
