I don't see the problem.
It just means you have to get the entry in the fstab right :-)

I can't recall if pmount (policy mount), which can get around all that
(and hence the hal wrapper 'pmount-hal') is in the future or in the past.

The sad thing about hal being depreciated (2001 jokes aside) begins with
phrases such as "just when I've got it all figured out ...."
