Same question here. I'm ogling the QNAP TS-259 Atom series because they have enough grunt to run Squeezeboxserver and are x86 so it can use various codecs. My concerns are fan noise and their alleged use of a hacked up ext3.5 filesystem. Any users here? What about Synology NASen?
We use Synology NAS DS409 (with ARM) with 4 x 2 TB in RAID5 for backing up two servers and some computers and I like it very much. It is really very good piece of hardware. Very small, quiet and having very good software - web UI as well as access over SSH and command line / busy box. It works very well.
