After the most recent "zypper up" I've lost the spell checker in Open Office Writer. It is is now version 3.2.1.6-1.1-x68_64, build 9502. The splash the comes up is the Sun one, not the Suse one. The manual checker never finds anything, and the automatic one never underlines anything. It is turned on. The underlining works with (e.g.) the email composer in Opera. Anyone else have the problem, and perhaps a solution?
The spell checker in OOo is a thing unto itself; actually a number of programs are like that. It has no relationship to the spell checker used by the browsers or the email. I have OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 OOO320m19 (Build:9505) ooo-build 3.2.1.6 although I haven't seen it update for a while. Spelling error detection and correction works fine. # rpm -q -a |grep -i spell ispell-american-3.3.02-90.1.i586 myspell-british-20100316-35.1.noarch ispell-3.3.02-90.1.i586 ispell-british-3.3.02-90.1.i586 aspell-en-6.0-164.1.i586 myspell-american-20100316-35.1.noarch aspell-en-huge-6.0-164.1.i586 aspell-0.60.6-32.1.i586 hunspell-1.2.8-8.1.i586 hunspell-tools-1.2.8-8.1.i586 Do you have this updated to match : OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool - Language Checker for OpenOffice.org This package provides the language checker extension for OpenOffice.org. It allows to detect errors that a simple spell checker cannot detect, e.g. mixing up there/their, no/now etc. It can also detect some grammar mistakes. It does not include spell checking. The language checker uses special dictionaries that are provided by the OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool-<lang> packages. -- "Beware of bugs in the above code; I have only proved it correct, not tried it." -- Knuth -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
