Hi, I don't know if it's of any consequence but libraw1394.so.8 is
required by kdebase4-workspace and will become libraw1394.so.11 by next
week and there's a change in the way it handles streaming video. It
might be a good idea for me to update at the same time as KDF.

Do you mean that libraw1394.so.11 handles video differently from
libraw1394.so.8, or that kdebase4-workspace handles video differently?

If the libraw1394 is changed, please allow users to keep the older
version as well, as I use libraw1394 as it currently is. I would hate my
applications to break. Also, if you update libraw1394 (and it acts
differently), I hope you will make available the other 1394 libraries
that work with the new libraw1394 (e.g., libdc1394, etc.).

From what the upstream maintainer said, I haven't slowly perused the
large changelog yet, it uses another lib libiec61883 and dvgrab for
streaming video and elsewhere there shouldn't be too much change.
libraw1394 is simply being updated from 1.3.0 to 2.0.5 the most radical
change is removal mpg1394. Regularly updated packages should actually
work better. The package will only be checked in to multimedia:libs
around Sunday and won't be submitted to factory for a while.
