Then of course please check http://en.openSUSE.org/Samba in particular
the "Samba bug reporting and advanced debugging information" section.

Then you might have bigger trouble or the default firewall blocks your
access.

Which version have you used before?

Fresh install or uggrade?

Left or right hand user? ;)

openSUSE (oS) 11.3 includes 3.5.4 which is the current stable version we
provide at Samba.org too.

At the openSUSE Build Service (OBS) network:samba:TESTING repository we
offer 3.6.0pre1 packages as well.  But your description doesn't ring any
bells.

tdbsam is better.  Check the man page.

Both should not be required.  And I believe both are invalid too.
Please check it with the help of testparm
