Not really.

Adding a small dedicated router/firewall machine would add a pound
of electricity in my particular case because our "main computer"
is the one which we usually use and the other computer is used
only occasionally so that usually the "main computer" runs anyway.

hmm, well... of course you know your usage pattern, but I'd still think that
having things split off would be worth it.
