That might be....

check to see if you have Networkmanager installed.  I think that if it
is installed, the program should be identified with its icon in the
start menu (Kmenu).

The next thing to check is to look in Yast under NetworkDevices>network
settings>global options tab to see if your networking is configured to
use ifup, or network manager.

I think Mark nailed it here. Check in YaST as suggested.... then
launch KNetworkManager and you should be good to go. If not.. provide
the info Mark suggested...

On my system, with a default clean install it was set to ifup instead
of network managed - granted I don't have a WiFi card in this
machine... so that might have impacted the configuration on install.
