Perhaps it ignores case because it is searching for a package and so it helps 
the user "memory" to
search for different spellings. Again perhaps it doesn't ignore case when it 
finds two hits of the
same "ignore case" spelling.

Lets look the manual... ah, look, there is some documentation:

       -C, --case-sensitive
              Perform case-sensitive search.
