Damon,
I think we are all talking about the same thing here. I don't know if
mozilla
know of the issues yet. I'll get a report on file, but it won't be until the end
of the week. I have a trial kicking off at 8:00 tomorrow and don't have the time
tonight. If anyone else has a mozilla account and could collect the info from
this thread and file it, that would be helpful :p

My bet (in thunderbird's case) is someone at mozilla got the brightHmmm I just saw this thread and have been chasing what may be the same
idea to
continue indexing or compressing messages after shutdown which would
explain the
problem but from a different angle... I run ThunderbirdPortable and
thread because I am beginning to think that this new Tbird indexing is
a real pain. In addition to the file open problem mentioned here, I see
that this indexing also steps on other Tbird operations. If I have Tbird
set to automatically check for and download new messages, I get a lot of
filter fail messages saying that the filter operation could not be done
because another process is operating on that folder. If instead I wait
for the indexing to finish and then download new messages, I don't have
that problem.
