Good, I'm glad to see LXDE getting more discussion on the list. It has been looking great lately with the updates in: http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/X11:/lxde/ It would be positive if all the other good light-weight desktops (blackbox, fluxbox, openbox (collectively the 'boxtops'), enlightenment (E16 & E17), icewm, WindowMaker, xfce4, pekwm, sawfish, fvwm2, etc...) got more discussion on the list. There are some fantastic lightweight desktops and window manager out there that could benefit from more use and discussion. And..., new users might find out they like real Linux desktops that uses something other than the Win95 type start menu approach to accessing files and the control panel. Feeling adventurous, install LXDE. If you have used kde or gnome, you will be instantly up and running. Next, move to something like E16 or Fluxbox and get acquainted with using the mouse on the desktop to access your apps and system. Regardless of whether you stay with any one of the desktops, you will learn more about opensource and you will also add a few desktops to your toolbox that work extremely well with older hardware or low memory setups. ... and yes, all your kde and gnome apps work just fine in these desktops.. -- David C.
