iotop is your friend. It is like top but shows process i/o. You'll quicklyIf found out from iotop that is coming from Postgresql stats collector
see
which process is accessing the disk.
If it is not installed, zypper in iotop (as root) should find it.
process.
Why and how turned on ? How to turn off ?
service postgresql off
chkconfig postgresql off
Why is it turned on?
[and I doubt the I/O load of an idle PostgreSQL service amounts to
anything at all]
