That is so simple it is untrue we go back to the days of sanity before people 
started faffing around forcing IDE to be SCSI  it worked very well if you 
connected a drive to the IDE0 port  it was either hda or hdb depending on 
wether it was the master or slave drive

Well if the interface is the first one on the chip then one would expect the 
software to CORRECTLY identify it as such no strange witch craft there
