The "clever" people are the kernel devs upstream. Few if any kernel devs pay
any attention to complaints on this distro user list.

Confine your device voodoo rants to the linux-ide mailing list, and _maybe_
someone capable of doing anything about it _might_ listen. Ranting on this
subject here is just more list pollution, no more useful than complaints
about *buntu popularity, .sigs, or lack of reply-to munging.
